singlestackWhile electronic solutions such as EDI, Portals and pCards do exist, the vast majority of invoices received by Hospitals persist on paper.

  • Over 80% of all invoices, remittances and payments are on paper.
  • Often 40-60% of purchase orders are sent by fax or mail.

Real transformation of Accounts Payable cannot occur until invoice data is electronic.

  • Paper causes processes to be inefficient and costly to both Hospitals and their suppliers.
  • Early payment discounts are difficult to earn due to lengthy processing.

The benefits of moving to electronic invoicing are many – yet barriers persist.

  • Suppliers are required to provide electronic invoices in various formats of EDI, XML or flat file data structures. This requires the supplier to create and maintain multiple, unique data formats and data connections for individual Hospitals. This burdens the supplier and creates resistance on their part.
  • For Hospitals, electronic invoicing is similarly cumbersome and costly. Challenges include new technology requirements, technically connecting to each supplier, and ongoing support to maintain the data mappings and supplier network at a time when Hospital technical resources are increasingly constrained.

Yet, there is a solution. The IDS solution.

Our mission is to substantially increase electronic connectivity between Hospitals and suppliers industry-wide. For larger Hospitals this generally represents a second tierĀ of connectivity below their existing EDI extending them to potentially 80%+ electronic. For smaller Hospital groups, IDS makes available wholesale electronic connectivity for the first time with a network of potentially hundreds of their suppliers for invoicing, settlement and ordering.
